Abandoned in Alaska photos by Ian Brooks
I recently took a trip with some coworkers down to the small town of Whittier, Alaska to pick up a new vehicle, but while we were waiting we decided to explore the Buckner Building, an abandoned government building which used to house most of the city’s residents (did I mention it was a small town? Though I readily admit “small town in Alaska” is probably a bit redundant). The building is several stories of graffitied and dismantled architecture, with dorms and left-behind equipment. It’s a regular hang out for local kids and tourists alike, the police dont seem to care if you’re braving the treacherous staircases and crumbling floors. Definitely something to check out if you ever find yourself up north.
The last two photos are from instagram (if you can’t tell), which you can follow me on at @ian_brooks for updates and pictures of cheese.
