LEGO The Lord of the Rings LEGO Sets

The LEGO Universe, which seems to contain all other Universes, has expanded even further with a brand new line of LOTR-themed sets due out this Summer. I was marveling at the impressive artwork they released to hype these when I realized the Hobbit and Dwarf minifigs are actually shorter than than the others. Now that’s attention to detail. LEGO Gollum needs to be mine. The first wave of sets are below:

“Gandalf Arrives” – Minifigures: Gandalf, Frodo

“Shelob Attacks” – Minifigures: Samwise, Frodo, Gollum

“Uruk-hai Army” – Minifigures: x4 Uruk-hai with a siege crossbow, x1 Rohirrim Soldier, x1 Rider Of Rohan with his horse

“Attack On Weathertop”- Minifigures: Samwise, Frodo, Aragon, x2 Nazgul

“Mines Of Moria” – Minifigures: Frogo, Gimli, Legolas, Boromir, x2 Goblins, x2 Skeletons, Cave Troll

“The Battle Of Helms Deep” – Minifigures: Aragon, Gimli, Legolas, Theoden, x5 Uruk-hai

LEGO Large Hadron Collider by Sascha Mehlhase

This 1:50 scale LEGO LHC uses 9,500 different pieces, taking about 33 hours to complete in addition to the 48 hours Sascha spent creating the 3D model base. This baby black-hole maker also cost 2000 euros (about $2,585 USD) in parts to build. So now there’s even more reason to fear the accidental creation of a Hell-portal on earth ala Doom. Or at least a LEGO Hell-portal.

Giant Beached LEGO Man by Ego Leonard

The residents of Siesta Key Village, FL recently made a discovery on the beach. But several of these 8-foot tall LEGO Men have washed up around the world on various coasts. Dating the reports back suggests that these sculptures have possibly been adrift at sea for years. So far, most searches lead to Leonard’s website, though no real clues are given as to motive. The LEGO Men contain numbering on their backs along with a simple message: “No Real Than You Are”.

What Remains by Chris McVeigh

Says Chris: “This model was meant to help promote my most recent tee, The Gamer, but as I pieced it together it took on a life of its own. It’s effectively my first self-portrait in Lego”. LEGO Beards are the new hotness.
